Who’s using the new Google Plus out there. Google Plus looks as if it may be the new Facebook killer, we’ll have to see. How many of you have started to use it. I know speaking for myself I haven’t been too active on my Facebook account these days. And usually for the many of the internet projects I run, my target audience is not on Facebook or various other social sites as they are not industry specific to my target and generally don’t provide too many leads.

I found that if you are selling a product to a general audience Facebook and other social sites can help you gain leads, but if your product is very specific to a particular industry that doesn’t apply to a general audience, social sites won’t work so well with gathering leads for you, unless it’s a social site on the topic of the specific industry.

With the new Google Plus due to be officially released soon, I probably won’t sign up for an account, as I know from Google’s many other business offerings (eg. like the droid phone, browser toolbars, and search engine), they like to track many other information about their users even when you are not using their site or products and just going about your normal daily life. They have cookies and scripts that track your daily internet travels and other information. Sales low… This is a recession, get creative, start running promotions. I received a few emails lately on the topic of what to do when sales are low due to the current economic environment. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. Economic environments like this are like the NBA Playoffs “It’s go hard or go home,” people. You have to excite your customers.

In economic environments like this you can’t just rely on your traffic and a few ads to make a living. You have to run ongoing promotions to spark and create action in your prospects, otherwise they won’t be buying, especially when money is tight for most people in times like these. Try it today, think of some kind of promotion you can run for that product you’ve been selling that’s been achieving low sales. Run a daily promotion that changes daily, or run a weekly promotion. I’m sure you’ll see a difference in your sales almost immediately. Then when you see a difference in your sales, don’t just stop there, keep the promotions up, and keep the sales coming in.
